OneClinic Logistics reforms Siun Sote’s logistics
The new system supports the joint municipal authority’s strategic objectives
Siun sote – Joint municipal authority for North Karelia social and health services – will have a new system that will be mainly used to manage the ordering, procurement and logistics of care supplies. For now the system is known as WMS + ERP + e-commerce, but it is hoped that the name competition will give the system a snappy name.
At the core of the solution is the OneClinic Logistics system. OneClinic Oy is also fully responsible for the delivery. In addition, Leanware Oy is involved. Siun Sote’s Director of Procurement and Logistics Kaisa Kolu is pleased with the new system.
“I am very happy that we can finally implement our plan. We have great confidence that this project will succeed. Of course, the effort is big for us too. We have a lot to do so we can change our own processes and take full advantage of the benefits and features of the new system. I consider it important that the project has the support of our top management and I look forward to working with the chosen software supplier”, she says.
At this point – in early summer 2021 – the project is in the definition phase. Kolu assures that in six months the system will be fully implemented.
Supports Siun sote’s strategy
Kaisa Kolu emphasizes that the new logistics system supports Siun sote’s strategy. The goal of the joint municipal authority is a healthy North Karelian. This in turn requires a new solution for the management of the order and supply chain as well as inventory management – the old system wouldn’t be able to adapt to the new requirements.
According to Kaisa Kolu, Director of Procurement and Logistics, the goal of the WMW + ERP + e-commerce is to get Siun sote’s entire logistic system under better control than before. In addition, the goals are to improve the services received by customers and local offices, to develop logistics-related reporting and predictability, as well as to build integrations with other systems in the joint municipal authority.
“Of course, in day-to-day work, it’s important that products are easier to order, that there will be no delays, and that the purchasing process becomes more efficient”, she says.
Thousands of users
The new system will be used by thousands of Siun sote’s workers in different occupations. The system practically covers all the possible special and care supplies – all in all tens of thousands of products in the future.
Logistics employee Ossi Puustinen handles the collection of products, receipt of incoming goods and the maintenance of the inventory at Siun Sote’s central warehouse. He hopes the new system will streamline the work procedure, reduce running from place to place, place the most sought-after products close-by and speeds up the collection of products.
Simplifying purchasing is also on Puustinen’s wish list.
“The fewer clicks, the better,” he sums up.
Common goals
Veli-Matti Pietilä, the CEO of OneClinic, is also excited about the project.
“We share the common goal with Siun sote, because we aim to enhance the healthcare logistics processes. The joint municipal authority genuinely wants to take control of the entire supply chain, from which we have good experiences in our previous projects”, he says.
OneClinic’s partner in the project was Leanware, which represents the best expertise in managing logistics centers.
“Leanware also has previous experience in healthcare logistics. In cooperation, we will implement a comprehensive provincial-level solution for logistics to North Karelia’s Siun sote – one which other welfare areas are jealous of”, promises Pietilä.
