The Coronavirus has challenged healthcare logistics

Kallio and Eksote found a solution in the form of OneClinic Logistics system

South Karelia Social and Health Care District (Eksote) and the basic service municipal consortium Kallio use OneClinic Logistics system to manage their healthcare logistics. The system enhances and streamlines the order-supply chain and simplifies inventory management. The corona pandemic has further highlighted the importance of well-functioning logistics.

Kallio started to fully utilize the OneClinic Logistics in February 2020. Leading pharmacist Pia Honkala-Perttu says that the consortium had to revamp its pharmaceutical inventory management program in order to meet the requirements of the legislation.

“We ended up choosing OneClinic Logistics, among other reasons, because we already had a drug certification feature that was part of the system, as required by the EU Falsified Medicines Directive. We had very good experiences with the certification function as well as working with OneClinic”, she says.

GREAT BENEFIT IN THE MANAGEMENT OF VACCINE LOGISTICS

OneClinic Logistics currently covers Kallio’s pharmaceutical supply logistics, the central warehouse responsible for care supplies and the material warehouse for dental care. In addition, the system has been integrated into financial management and accounting.

“During the corona pandemic, OneClinic Logistics has been a huge asset in handling our vaccine logistics,” says Honkala-Perttu.

In the same way, the system has helped Eksote – which has named it Martta – to meet the exceptional challenges posed by the corona. Jussi Kaurala, Head of Logistics and Materials Management at Eksote, points out that corona has further emphasized the importance of inventory management, among other things.

Mandatory reserve supplies management built into the system as an additional feature

“Consumption of various protective equipment has increased significantly. Martta has been very helpful in monitoring inventory levels. It has also helped to identify the costs caused by the corona. An additional feature of Martta is the management of mandatory reserve supplies”, he describes.

Martta has been used by Eksote since 2015. Last fall, the system was vigorously developed. With Martta’s help, Eksote handles orders for care and cleaning supplies for all units, as well as inventory management.

User-friendliness gains praise

Kallio’s leading pharmacist Pia Honkala-Perttu praises the user-friendliness of OneClinic Logistics.

“If you know how to order something online, you know how to use it”, she sums up.

Jussi Kaurala, Eksote’s Logistics and Materials Management Manager, agrees with her.

“Martta is really clear and its logic is simple. After training, the system is easy to use”, he states.

Kaurala is also pleased with OneClinic’s customer service. The company responds to service requests promptly and gets to work immediately. Almost always a solution can be found the next day at the latest.

“Fast service is of great importance to us,” he emphasizes.

The system has more than 260 users in the basic service municipal consortium Kallio while Eksote has about 1000 users.
