Working at OneClinic: Janne Heikkinen brings technical planning help with long history in the field
OneClinic’s Oulu office has a new addition to the team: Janne Heikkinen. We sat Janne down for a while and asked a little about not only the his background, but also about working at OneClinic and the healthcare logistics industry as a workplace.
How did you get into the industry and what did you do before OneClinic?
I have worked for more than 20 years with healthcare ICT systems. After moving from Kainuu to Oulu, I started at Medici Data, where I worked on patient information systems for specialized medical care. Later, through corporate acquisitions, I ended up at CGI, where I worked for a long time in expert and development positions related to the social security sector. In 2021, I moved to BCB Medical to develop citizens’ electronic business solutions for hospital districts. Most recently before moving to OneClinic, I worked as a consultant at FlowUp Oy, which offers expert services for healthcare development, where I did, for example, analyzing and renewing the system architecture.
What made you come to OneClinic and what is your role with us?
The team at OneClinic was already partly familiar to me, and I have followed the company’s journey for a long time, for example, through social media. When an interesting role opened up in the house, I was able to talk about it through familiar contacts, and the rest is happy history on both sides. My current role here is related to software development – I help in the technical planning of new customer implementation projects and ensure through practical coding work that the functionalities can be refined to meet customer specifications.
The good thing about a growing company like OneClinic is that role changes are always a possibility and we learn new things together all the time. In the future, the purpose is also as part of my role to think about how we can increasingly and better utilize artificial intelligence in healthcare logistics, and pilot its use in different environments.
What motivates you the most in your work?
It’s great to be a part of the development of medical care logistics and to see how medical supplies move and ensure their availability in healthcare. The possibility of influencing indirectly, or in fact even directly, for example nurses’ well-being at work and patient safety is very motivating. In my work, I also get to see what all happens before hospitals distribute medicine, which brings a new perspective to my own work history.
How would you describe OneClinic as a workplace?
At OneClinic, the team works closely together, and open communication and sparring are always present. Community spirit and working together are significant strengths here.
