Heart Hospital streamlines the logistics of healthcare materials with a new system – successful implementation despite a tight schedule
During the past winter, Heart Hospital successfully deployed the OC Logistics system into production use. With the new system, the hospital is streamlining the logistics of its healthcare materials. Heart Hospital decided to procure the system based on a public tender, and OneClinic and Heart Hospital signed the procurement contract in the summer of 2025.
Service Manager Mikko Ihatsu from Heart Hospital’s procurement, logistics, and instrument care services says he is very satisfied with the project’s outcome.
“The implementation went well, even though the schedule was tight. We are particularly pleased with how the integration of OC Logistics with our own Coralia ERP system works,” he states. “At Heart Hospital – in both cardiology and cardiac surgery – data transfer between systems must work seamlessly: even minor disruptions can quickly complicate daily operations.”
A hospital specialized in cardiac care
As its name implies, Heart Hospital specializes in cardiac care. The hospital is owned by the wellbeing service counties of Pirkanmaa, Central Finland, and Kanta-Häme. Its locations are in Tampere, Jyväskylä, Hämeenlinna, Riihimäki, and Valkeakoski. The hospital employs over 700 professionals in cardiology, as well as cardiac and thoracic surgery.
OC Logistics was implemented at Heart Hospital at the Tampere University Hospital, as well as the Heart Hospital locations in Jyväskylä and Hämeenlinna. The system is used to manage the order-delivery chains and inventories of special healthcare materials used in cardiac procedures.
“The new system is used by about twenty people from logistics and procurement. In addition, some of the nursing staff interact with it, perhaps even without knowing it – through the integration,” Ihatsu explains.
OneClinic’s CEO Veli-Matti Pietilä sees Heart Hospital’s position in the company’s rapidly growing customer base as very significant. “Cooperation with Heart Hospital has been excellent from the very beginning. It is great to see how well our system suits also Heart Hospital’s needs,” Pietilä states.
