Joint municipal board pioneering the new Kuntax OneClinic system
Kårkulla Joint Municipal Board is pioneering enterprise resource planning methods in social welfare services in Finland. The board has purchased the solution provided by KuntaPro Oy and OneClinic Oy Ltd. The OneClinic Care system developed by OneClinic is at the heart of the system.
Kårkulla Joint Municipal Board consists of all 33 Swedish-speaking or bilingual municipalities in Finland. It offers a diverse range of services mainly to people with disabilities and their close friends and family. Kuntax OneClinic is an advanced social and healthcare information system based on resource planning. The system combines social welfare, healthcare and financial management into one solution.
IT Designer Marius Brunberg of Kårkulla Joint Municipal Board says that, at this stage, the system is mainly used as a notice record for social welfare services. The system records any notifications and requests related to the clients’ service needs as well as data on their processing.
“In practice, the system supports our work to map out our clients’ service needs,” he says.
According to Marius Brunberg, the modular system will be easy to extend to cover new functionalities later, if necessary.
Brunberg believes the OneClinic Care system will bring a myriad of benefits. Social welfare professionals will have better access to the data they need and also from outside their workstation.
Reporting and updating client data will also become easier.
“We expect the system to make our work significantly more effective,” he says.
According to the contract closed between OneClinic and KuntaPro last spring, OneClinic Care is an integral part of the Kuntax system, a solution for the resource planning of the operations, finances and services of municipal social and healthcare sector developed by KuntaPro. The solution is based on the Microsoft Dynamics AX technology, which is globally used by tens of thousands of companies.
Development Director Esa Sairanen of KuntaPro says that the decision made by Kårkulla Joint Municipal Board shows the way to what kind of information systems will be used in the social and healthcare sector in the future to meet the objectives of the reform.
“The best system to enhance our operations and raise cost awareness is a system based on resource planning. Only very few systems in the market can meet this requirement. OneClinic Care is one of the few,” he says.
Project Manager Mirja Lukkari of OneClinic says that the Kårkulla project is now at the specification phase.
“We work on a very tight schedule. The goal is to have the system up and running in January,” she says.
